A simple start to the month with the required bracket for the alternator being made and fitted. A trip to work next day see's the voltage stable even with all the lights in use. I will have a play with the location of the "sense" wire to see if I can adjust the voltage a little.

A fellow GTM owner was on tour in Scotland, and remembering a conversation about a roll bar at Stoneleigh, offered to deliver one he had sitting around. This bar, unlike the previous one, mounts onto the floor and looks a little bit stronger.
|
After a quick check, I removed the surplus seat belt mounts from the rollbar. Then gave it a rub down to remove, what looked like household paint from the bar, before I hung it up for a couple of coats of paint.

The last few trips in the coupé has shown how old the tyres are, so having ordered them mid week, I went and got all four tyres replaced with some Kumho KH17 175/60 R13H . I'll wait and see how much an improvement they make in the wet.

Once home I started on the roll bar, first job was to remove both seats to get space, then try the bar for placement. The bar uses a couple on nylon blocks to attach it to the firewall, these align with a couple of brackets in the engine bay, originally designed for the traditional static seat belts. Once these were loosely clamped in place I fitted 120x100x3mm plates under the feet, these were then welded to the floorpan, and the rollbar welded to these.

With the bar in place, it was time to give the Coupè a quick wash ready for a trip to the Tayside Classic Motor Show tomorrow. Lets hope for a nice day.
Well after a rather wet trip down, the day at Errol airfield stays dry, and at times sunny. Met up with a few other Scottish kitcar owners, and had a try at the car gymkhana, were I managed to post the third fastest time of the session, on the second attempt, having missed the exit gate on the first.

In preparation for the drive to be resurfaced, all the cars & trailer are moved for the rest of the week, it's quite strange to see the drive empty once more.

After a week away on "Holiday" the Coupé returns to its home.
