February - March 2018

February saw very little being done on the car, apart from the refilling of the gearbox, this needed a custom filler made from 10mm copper pipe to make filling easier.

March saw a little bit more being done on the car, with the plan of putting it back on the road in April.
First job was to refurbish the spare set of Minilite copies I have, these are KN Minator wheels, these were stripped with chemical paint remover, and then jetwashed. Followed by a couple of light coats of etch primer. The back of the wheels were done in satin black, while the fronts were coated in Rover Amethyst metallic, these will be give a further coat of satin lacquer once they have had a few days to harden.

For a while, I have been looking at the rocker/valve cover and thinking the Honda logo was well hidden and also facing the wrong way. So with the chemical stripper out, I decided to remove the cover, strip the paint and remove the logo.
Then I used a 3d printed GTM logo that was sanded to allow for the angle of the head, before etch priming it and spraying with VHT wrinkle plus paint, this goes on smooth, but a little heat makes it texture up like the original coating.
